One thing that a small streamer can do that a large streamer can not, is interact with their chat. Their are people who specifically watch streamers with smaller average viewers because the streamer will give them more attention then other larger streamers.
Something that small streamers do that is very important is remembering their fans. Doing something so simple as remembering their name or something about them can go a long way. This will help streamers build a community and make everyone who views their stream feel special.
A call to action is simply designed to make a viewer take action on something. Having a visual call to action will increase engagement from the chat. One example could be just asking people to follow and subscribe.
Another call to actions that streamers use could be having a pop up reminding the viewers to share the stream with their friends. Having a follower goal is a popular call to action that many streamers use. What makes it better then a subscriber and donation goal is the fact that following is free.
One tip that is very important is consistency. Some streamers don’t want to be known for one specific game so they are always changing it. Sticking to one piece of content isn’t a bad thing, it’s actually recommended.
If a streamer see’s growth from a small game, they will continue to play that game. If they want to build an audience they choose a discoverable category and stick with it. Having a clear schedule is also very important because it helps the viewer know when to watch the next stream.
Followers-Only Mode restricts chat to only include viewers who have followed you for a specific amount of time. For example if you set Followers-Only to ten minutes, in order to chat a viewer must have been following for ten minutes.
If you are a small streamer, you should NOT use follower-only chat. In using this feature you’re asking for someone to follow you just to write in your chat. It doesn’t make sense.
Ads may be good for some streamers but if their relativity small then they can be their worst enemy. Sometimes when someone discovers a new streamer and immediately see an ad more often then not they will leave.
There are two ways to get rid of these ads. The first being not being an affiliate. The second is to run your own ads for 2 minutes you will turn off pre-roll ads for 30-40 minutes. This means that new people who join your stream won’t be shown pre-roll adds.
One way that streamers appear on the front page of Twitch is through Hype Trains. All it takes is 3 dollars, 100 Bits from 3 different people which will put streamers on the front page of Twitch. There are even people who look for Hype Trains only to support them.
It doesn’t have to be Bits either. The chain can also happen if one person subscribes, another person does a gift up and then another person does 100 Bits. If this happens the streamer will have the chance to appear on the front page of Twitch.
When someone joins a stream they instantly start accruing channel points. Channel Points is a customizable points program that lets streamers reward members of their community with perks, including a taste of benefits typically reserved for subscribers.
When someone follows they gain 200-300 channel points which Twitch then lets them know that they can redeem something. Its free, its harmless and they use it. Now that streamer has a new active chatter that they can remember and engage with.
