Twitch is a video live streaming service that focuses on video games and other content. Many people have turned to Twitch as their full time job and make a living playing video games.

1. Twitch Affiliate Program

The Twitch Affiliate program allows qualified streamers to monetize their channel as they build their audience. If you get up to 50 followers you can become a Twitch Affiliate which will give you a share of the pre roll adds that Twitch puts in your stream.

While this typically isn’t much money to live of off, it is a start. Another thing it does give you is additional monetization options such as the ability to create emotes, gain subscriptions and more.

2. Subscriptions

While streams are free to view, some fans choose to subscribe to their favorite streamer. This is to not only support them financially but gain special emotes and badges that the creator made. As well as watching their streams without any ads.

There are three tiers for Twitch subscriptions. Tier one costs $4.99, tier two costs $9.99, and tier three costs $24.99 a month. Which ever one you choose half of the money is split between the Streamer and Twitch. Subscribing is just one of the ways you can support your favorite content creator.

3. Bits

Viewers can also purchase what are called “Bits”. Bits are animated emojis that appear in the chat when the fans “cheer”. It can give you the power to encourage and show support for streamers, get attention in chat, vote in Polls, get recognition through badges, etc.

The streamer will a receive a percentage of the money viewers spend on the Bits. Viewers also have the option to donate money directly to the streamer with out subscribing. This supports the streamer more than subscribing or dropping bits because the money is no longer shared or split with Twitch.

4. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Programs are another source of income. This is why some streamers have links to the streaming gear they use, the game that they play, products on Amazon. Every time a viewer click on a link and buys something the streamers receives a cut.

If you’re a smaller streamer the amount of money you receive won’t be life changing. Not that many people are watching you and because of this people are less likely to click on the links. The more viewers you have, the better chance you’ll get people clicking on your affiliate links.

5. Twitch Partner Program

Twitch Partnership is for those who are committed to streaming and are ready to level up from Affiliate. By becoming a Twitch Partner you have the potential to gain more exposure and opportunities than an affiliate.

Twitch will start recommending your stream to new viewers which in turn will help you gain more subscriptions and donations. This also helps you with getting the attention of popular brands who may want you to sponsor their products in your channel.

6. Sponsorship

A Twitch sponsorship is a partnership between a Twitch streamer and a company. The company will pay a streamer to promote their product or service on their Twitch channel. Sponsorships could look like a company’s banner/ad on your stream for a small duration, a gaming chair or even a merch store to sell clothes with your brand.

Sponsored content can appear in Twitch streams in several ways. This will not only help you stay relevant but also continue to catch the eye of several brands. You could even get invitations to conventions like PAX or Twitch Con to meet with some fans.

People are now able to make money at home by just playing video games. It is important to remember that everyone grows differently and not everyone can become famous overnight.
