We often believe that YouTubers make a lot of money, or that they make little to nothing but this really depends on the creator. I’m here to tell you just how much youtubers make with the help of Youtuber Graham Stephan. Let’s see if you have what it takes to make it big.
Are you even cut out for YouTube?
YouTube is not for everyone, and especially for people who aren’t ready to put in the work. How much a youtuber can make is almost entirely dependent of how well they run their channel Some treat it like a hobby while others treat it like a business. Just making a video and putting a 5 second ad at the beginning is not cutting it and youtubers have said that this is just a tip of the iceberg of what can you can do to make profit.
1. Google AdSense
Refers to the 5 to 15 sec ads that show up at the beginning, middle and end of the video. To qualify for this your channel must have at least a 1,000 Subscribers and have accumulated four thousand hours or more of watch time. Must be “Advertiser Friendly”. From there you can go in many directions, but I’ll give you the short version. If you plan on swearing and making mature content there will be almost no ads at all. Using copyrighted material like songs or another creators content can get you a copyright strike and they can claim ownership of the revenue of the video. If your channel contains non of these and is considered advertiser friendly, then you can make about $2 or $3 Per 1,000 Views. (Ex: 5 Million Views=10k-15k).

2. Sponsorships
Sponsorships refers to when brands reach out and request to be mentioned for at least 60-90 seconds. In Grahams channel with 1 millions Subscribers he is offered between $4,000 – $20,000. Typically he declines the larger offers because although they pay a higher premium, these companies are usually scams and a waste of time and can hurt your image.
3. Merchandise
Some of the larger YouTube merch lines do surprisingly well. Youtubers that keep making new and limited edition merchandise have been stated to make about $50,000 to $150,000 a MONTH. Now most youtubers don’t expect to make that much, but consider that 20-30% of merchandise you buy from your favorite YouTuber is huge profit for them and a great way to show how much you value their time and effort into their videos. 4. Creating a Product
Whether it’s a virtual or physical product, this a great stream of revenue for creators. Some YouTubers make an education system and teach people how to grow in their career or learn new skills. Some of the larger business youtubers are making close to 1 Million Dollars a month in profit from selling their programs, consulting, speaking engagements etc.
5. Membership Site
Last but not least is creating a member ship site. This is a site in which the creator shows bonus or uncensored content that YouTube doesn’t allow. One example is a youtuber who had 100,000 subscribers and each of his followers are paying $5 a month to see his exclusive content. The price can vary and its up to the creator to decide how much they want to get paid.
